Health Reform Confuses Americans

In a recently released poll by CBS News, two-thirds of Americans admitted they were confused about health care reform. This evaluation cuts across party lines, with majorities of both Republicans (69 percent) and Democrats (58 percent) saying the current proposals are confusing.

Health plans want to be clear: we support of comprehensive health care reform to cover all Americans, make care more affordable, and improve quality.  Below are five simple health reform principles our industry has proposed:

  • Guaranteed coverage for everyone
  • Eliminating pre-existing conditions
  • Premiums not based on gender or health status
  • Personal coverage requirement so that everyone has health insurance
  • Making coverage more affordable
