Types of Membership
OAHP has a number of membership categories to accommodate licensed health plans; plans in the process of being licensed by the state; and other organizations or individuals supporting the principles of managed care. The Board of Trustees determines the membership status of all applicants.
Membership categories and their descriptions follow:
Licensed Health Plan
A health plan that provides comprehensive health care services and is committed to the purpose of OAHP. Health plans must hold a Certificate of Authority from the Ohio Department of Insurance, and be actively operating in good standing. (Voting)
Developing Licensed Health Plan
Organizations that support the purpose of the association, and have submitted their applications to the Ohio Department of Insurance for a Certificate of Authority to operate a licensed health plan. (Voting)
Affiliate
Organizations that support or adopt a managed care approach to health care delivery, and support association goals, but do not meet the definition of a voting member. Affiliate members provide at least primary care services or provide or arrange for the provision of a single health service, and are compensated for these services on a periodic, per enrollee basis. (Voting)
Supporting
Corporations, partnerships, associations or other institutions or organizations that support the purpose of the association and provide a product or service of interest to licensed health plans, or with an interest in the principles of managed care, and do not hold a Certificate of Authority from the Ohio Department of Insurance. (Non-voting)
